So, words.
Aren’t they amazing? Allowing us to communicate with each-other, there are thousands of words, and we still learn something new once in a while, and it’s about ‘learning’ subconsciously that I wish to talk to you about.
It’s said that our Brain stores everything it sees, listens and smells, and why we are quite pathetic in our use of if, there are times in which is quite interesting to see its power… Well, it amazes me at least.
I know this must have happened to you as well, at least once before. Yesterday it happened to me twice, so I decided to share my interest.. I’ll start explaining myself now.
By the time we become grownups, we don’t learn new words everyday, unfortunately, or at least we don’t memorize them into our vocabulary. But let’s say you’re talking with someone and they use a new word, for instance, there’s a Portuguese word: ‘pelém’ – which means a really skinny or weak\bad nutrition-ed person – and you’re like ‘Wow, I never heard that before in my entire life’.
Later that day, you’re at home with the TV News in the background, and while barely paying attention, you suddenly hear someone using ‘pelém’, in a documentary a couple of times.
The fact that our brain know has the ability to link it to our active conscious now, as it’s part of our vocabulary, it’s amazing, it’s like our brain is a computer with it’s own filter.
It just shows our powerful our brains really are, it’s just sad we can’t access it however the hell we wish.
But tell me, has it happened to you to?
